Labrador Rescue of North Carolina, Inc. is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization operated by volunteers working to re-home abused, abandoned, or unwanted purebred labradors into loving homes. We currently operate statewide in NC.

We generally have several dogs of various ages and colors waiting for adoption. Most of our dogs are between the ages of 1-10 years old, but can range from 8 weeks to 12 years old or older. We seldom have puppies, but older puppies are often available in spring as "Christmas puppies" grow out of their cute stage.

Dogs enter rescue through a variety of sources. They may be strays whose owners could not be found after being picked up by Good Samaritans or Animal Control, or may be dogs left unclaimed at animal shelters. The unwanted dog may also come directly from a home whose circumstances have changed or whose family is breaking up. Whenever possible, dogs of unknown history are placed in foster homes where they can be evaluated, given health care and basic training before being placed with a new family. For many labs, this time in foster care may be their first experience of love and security.

We make every attempt to ensure that all dogs leave us fully vetted:

If age and health do not permit us to spay or neuter before adoption, the lab will have to be spayed or neutered as soon as age or health do permit.

Our adoption fee of $275.00 often covers only a fraction of the expenses we incur on our "retrieved" retrievers.
